Lady Chatterley's Lover explores themes of class difference, social conflict, and intellectual versus physical stimulation. Its explicit sexual content and use of then-unprintable words made the novel the subject of a 1960 British obscenity trial, the non-guilty verdict of which resulted in greater freedom for publishing explicit content.
